George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Are you familiar with all the members?

Yes! It is widely regarded as the most influential band of the rock era.

This is the best-selling band in history.

Rolling Stone ranked the Beatles as the best artist of all time.

They ranked No.1 on Billboard of the All-Time Most Successful Hot 100 Artists.

In 2014, the band received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

But, do you still love this band regardless of the break-up?

Which song come up to you once you think of them?

Now, let’s take a journey to the Beatles’ Top 10 Songs.

1. I Want To Hold Your Hand

“Oh, please say to me
You’ll let me be your man
And please say to me
You’ll let me hold your hand”

The song was released by Capitol Music Group on 26th, December, 1963, because of the increasing demand for the Beatles. It was also the band’s first American No.1, entering the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January, 1964.

I felt the man’s love. He was a little shy and couldn’t hide the feeling for her. The lyric is simple but the emotion is not that simple.

2. Yesterday

“Why she had to go I don’t know she wouldn’t say
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away”

“Yesterday” was released as a single in the United States in September, 1965. The AABA musical form makes the song so special. The song is still popular and it has more than 2200 cover versions.

The past was so lovely. I would like to go back to yesterday for all those nice things. This song reminds me of the things that I could have done better.

3. Hey Jude

“Hey Jude, don’t make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better”

The song was written by Paul McCartney for comforting Julian, John Lennon’s son, during his parents’ divorce. It was released in August, 1968, as the first single from the Beatles’ record label Apple Records. This song spent 9 weeks at No.1 in the United States, the longest for any Beatles single.

Everyone has their hard times. Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders like this song said. The encouraging song brings warm and bright to me just like the sun.

4. Let It Be

“When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be”

The song was written and sung by Paul McCartney. It was the band’s final single before McCartney announced his departure from the band. It topped in many countries.

We can’t avoid the troubles in life even it is really painful to be with them. Just let it be. This is a kind of wisdom.

5. In My Life

“All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all”

The song is ranked No.23 on Rolling Stone’s “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” as well as No.5 on their list of the Beatles’ 100 Greatest Songs. Mojo magazine named it the best song of all time in 2000.

The past is not the best. Although we may dream of staying in the past with old people and things, we should move on and focus on the new life.

6. A Day In The Life

“And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall
I’d love to turn you on”

“A Day in the Life” was ranked the 28th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone. In another list, the magazine ranked this song as the greatest Beatles song.

So many musical instruments were used in the song. In the middle of the song, the sound of clock came after the noise, Paul started to sing. This impressed me a lot.

7. She Loves You

“She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
And with a love like that
You know you should be glad”

This is the band’s best-selling single and the best-selling single of the 1960s in the United Kingdom. In November 2004, Rolling Stone ranked “She Loves You” No. 64 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Sometimes we may say something bad to who we love. But it’s not that bad. Just apologize to them. They won’t be mad because they love us.

8. Hello, Goodbye

“You say goodbye and I say
Hello, hello, hello
I don’t know why you say goodbye
I say hello, hello hello”

“Hello, Goodbye” was issued as a non-album single in November, 1967. It made a commercially success around the world, topping charts in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia.

It’s fun and fresh. I was cheered up by the song. How do you feel after listening to it?

9. Penny Lane

“Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue suburban skies
I sit, and meanwhile back”

“Penny Lane” was near the home of John Lennon, in the band’s hometown, Liverpool. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Penny Lane at No. 456 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

There is always a lane with beautiful memory. People lived a peaceful life. What’s the special lane staying in your ears and eyes?

10. The Long and Winding Road

“Anyway you’ll never know the many ways I’ve tried
But still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don’t leave me waiting here, lead me to your door”

This song was the group’s 20th and last No.1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.

I feel the loneliness, the helplessness and the sadness. The long and winding road makes me feel desperate. Will you have the same feeling? Listen to it and be kind to tell me.
